Portfolio look-through
A three-fund portfolio is "diversified", but how much of it is NVIDIA and Apple? Enter your ETFs and their weights and this tool adds up every underlying position across every fund — from each fund's SEC N-PORT filing — to show the portfolio's true top holdings, country and sector tilt, and what the bond sleeve is made of. Load a lazy portfolio to start, or paste your own.

How the look-through is computed
Each fund's positions come from its latest SEC N-PORT filing (issuer-published holdings for the handful of funds that don't file one). Your weights are normalized to 100%, and every position's weight in the fund is multiplied by the fund's share of your portfolio. Positions that appear in several funds are merged on identifier — CUSIP for US securities, ISIN elsewhere — never on name, so "NVIDIA Corp" and "NVIDIA Corp." don't split and GOOGL and GOOG don't merge.
Country, asset class, and bond issuer type are aggregated across every position in every fund. The top-positions table is built from each fund's largest 250 positions; the remainder is reported as "all other positions" rather than dropped. Sector labels come from a curated map covering the securities that carry meaningful weight in the catalog; stock weight the map doesn't cover is shown as its own row rather than renormalized away.
Funds that hold other ETFs (asset-allocation funds like AOR or AOA) are looked through one level when the underlying ETF is in the catalog, so their rows show Apple and Treasuries rather than "iShares Core S&P 500 ETF". Physical-metal trusts (GLD, IAU, SLV…) hold bullion, not securities, and are excluded from the look-through entirely.
Holdings reflect each fund's latest filing (typical 30–60 day lag). Weights drift daily with prices; treat the figures as a snapshot, not a live position report.
Holdings reflect the latest N-PORT filing for each fund (typical 30–60 day lag); issuer-published holdings for the few funds that don't file one (SPY, MDY, DIA, DBC, DBA). Physical-metal trusts (GLD, IAU, SLV…) hold bullion rather than securities and are left out of the look-through. The pairwiseoverlap toolanswers the narrower "how much do these two funds duplicate each other" question; themethodologypage covers how holdings are matched.
PlainIndex publishes data and editorial commentary — nothing here is personalized investment advice. The look-through describes what a set of funds currently holds, not whether that mix is right for any particular investor.
